My name is Rick Felici and I have been serving as your sheriff for the past 7+ years. I began my career with Island County in 1994. I served Island County as patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, detective, detective sergeant and as second in command to Sheriff Brown as his Chief Deputy.

Throughout my time as Sheriff, I have worked to keep this office focused on public service rather than politics.  We have added technology, improved our training and added programs for mental health and addiction services both on the street and in our jail. I will continue to build the best sheriff’s office our resources will allow.

My commitment remains the same:

to provide fair, professional, and unbiased law enforcement services to every member of our community.

I am running for a third term as Sheriff because there is still important work to be done. Over the past several years, we have made significant progress in strengthening our office and improving the services we provide to the people of Island County. However, several major initiatives remain underway, including the development of a new jail, modernization of our emergency dispatch systems, and continued efforts to strengthen staffing, training, and organizational culture.

I remain committed to seeing these critical projects through to completion and ensuring our office continues moving forward.

Like many agencies across the country, retirements and attrition have resulted in a younger workforce within our office. We have been fortunate to recruit highly talented and dedicated individuals who represent the future of public safety in Island County. With my leadership experience and decades of law enforcement service, I believe I am uniquely positioned to mentor and develop this next generation of professionals while maintaining the high standards our community expects.

Simply put, I am running for re-election to finish what I have started, build on the progress we have made, and ensure that the citizens of Island County continue to receive the exceptional level of safety, service, and leadership they deserve.
